St. Augusta's backpack program serves children from the community who attend Lake Village Elementary. These students receive free breakfast and lunch during school days. The "backpacks" the students receive each Friday help to ensure there is healthy and nutritious food available to them while away from school on the weekends.
Parishioners from St. Augusta pack the "backpacks" every other Thursday beginning at 10:30 AM. Volunteers usually spend 1 1/2 hours or less every week. Anyone is welcome to volunteer as there are "jobs" for all activity levels.
If you would like to be kept up to date on the schedule and opportunities to volunteer for this worthwhile cause, please contact the church office at 219-992-3220 and leave a message for Bethany Busboom.
The first Sunday of each month is Sharing Sunday at St. Augusta. Families are asked to bring a donation for the food pantry with them to Mass.
St. Augusta provides food, volunteers and financial support to the Community Food Pantry. The pantry is open to low income residents of Northern Newton County on the second Saturday of each month from 9 a.m. to 12 noon in the old Roselawn Library on Kellar Street in Roselawn.
We are always looking for volunteers to stock shelves and help on distribution day. To volunteer or for further information, please contact Jeanette Marter at 219.992.9010.
Funeral Luncheons are arranged by the Ladies' Guild for any parishioner. As soon as arrangements have been made with the funeral home and with Fr. Michael McKinney, please contact Donna Prange at the church during normal business hours by calling 219-992-3220.
Donna will need an estimated number of guests to be served, in order for enough food to be prepared.
St. Augusta's Ladies' Guild welcomes all female parishioners 18 or older to join them.
We strive to provide opportunities for the women of our parish to serve God through service to the Church and our neighbors in religious, educational, civic and social activities.
Meetings are held at 7:00 p.m. on the 1st Thursday of the month from March through June and September through December. For further information, please contact Melody Barone, President at 219-992-3220 or staugusta@parish.dol-in.org.
The parishioners of St. Augusta will pray for you and your special intentions.
Please contact the parish office Monday-Friday, 9:00am - 2:00pm to activate the Prayer Chain.
